Most people seem to focus on what to “start.” Starting is very important. We should start budgeting, exercising, dieting properly, spending more time with God, spending more time with the ones we love, spending more time on self improvement. Without starting, we can never accomplish anything great. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one simple step.
Sometimes, however, there is an even more important consideration. That consideration is what exactly should we “stop” doing. In each of our lives there are things we no longer need to be doing. Or, even more urgent, things we never should have starting doing in the first place.
We cannot fulfill our destiny and fully enjoy our lives until we eliminate the following activities…
- The Unnecessary
- The Distracting
- The Detrimental
These things serve to derail us from true progress. These things zap our energy to do greater and more important things.
In order to properly “stop”, we must do 4 things…
- Evaluate each thing we do from the perspective of our destiny.
- Prioritize the things we do, in order of importance.
- Discover the things we do that have negative consequences.
- Stop doing things we should not (or no longer) be doing.
When we adequately learn to stop doing the wrong things, it frees up more time for doing the right things. It’s okay to say “no.”
Learn to be a good “stopper” and you be further on track to fulfilling your destiny.
